Functional. Simple. Comprehensible.<\/h2>\n

Years ago you had a fine little website. Not too complicated, but functional. If it broke, almost almost anyone could open it up and fix it.<\/p>\n

Then you wanted to add a few extra features, and you brought in some professional designers and coders to upgrade and maintain it. You didn’t understand everything that was going on in the new version, but most of the code was still intelligible to you.<\/p>\n

\"WitneyThen a few more years slipped by and you didn’t understand anything. Programmers had infiltrated your web presence and filled it with obscure technologies and jargon so mind-numbing that you’d rather shoot yourself than attempt to understand it all. You realized with a sinking heart that you no longer could make basic changes to your website. If it broke, you couldn’t fix it. Neither could anyone else in your office.<\/p>\n

While you pondered this, you suddenly realized that several pages were broken. Content was all over the place, images and links were missing, and when you clicked on a Submit button it took you to an Error page. So you begged a knowledgeable tech consultant to take a quick look. And what he told you was pretty awful:\u00a0“Oh I think it’s because they built it in the kidneystone.js framework a couple years back, and the directive or something needed to be updated, but they forgot to do it. I don’t know what tell you. Do you know anyone who works in kidneystone? I don’t. Maybe you could start all over…”<\/p>\n
